Tatters extends artist Scarlett Bowman’s Fragments series into print, translating her materially driven practice into a graphic format.
For this edition, Bowman placed found textiles and everyday remnants directly onto the scanner bed of the Risograph printer, allowing the machine to capture their textures, folds and edges. The process preserves the physical immediacy of collage while flattening it into image, a tension that sits at the heart of her work.
Mundane materials are recontextualised through layering and juxtaposition, their frayed surfaces and irregular forms transformed into a considered composition. What might otherwise be overlooked is given renewed presence, suspended between documentation and reinvention.
Though two-dimensional, Tatters retains a sculptural sensibility. Overlaps and interruptions remain visible, echoing the stitched and assembled structures that define Bowman’s wider practice.
Produced in a limited edition of 100, the print reflects the artist’s ongoing exploration of fragmentation, repair and material memory.
