Artist Profile
Valerie Savchits is a Latvian-born artist working across painting, sculpture and installation. Drawing on Slavic mythology, archetypal storytelling and personal memory, Savchits constructs a visual language that feels both ancient and urgent.
Valerie Savchit’s work unfolds through fragments; symbolic forms, declarative figures and recurring motifs assemble into an evolving mythological system. While rooted in cultural narratives, Savchits actively destabilises inherited stereotypes, reworking them through a contemporary feminist lens. Language is central to her practice: text appears as mantra, refusal and collective affirmation, transforming image into statement.
Valerie Savchits completed her BA at the University of Salford in 2016 and holds an MA in Fine Art at the University of Brighton. Her artwork has been exhibited internationally, including in Field of Vision at Zuzeum Art Centre, Riga (2023), situating her practice within a wider Baltic and European context. In the UK, she has participated in exhibitions presented by Delphian Gallery at Saatchi Gallery, London in both 2020 and 2022.
Across media, Valerie Savchits explores how myth and language can be reclaimed as tools of empowerment, shifting visibility from marginal to central.
