Daisy Parris
Artist Profile
Daisy Parris is an artist working across painting, drawing and print, combining saturated colour with the direct use of language. In Parris’ practice, words function as material—weighted, unstable and often contradictory—embedded within compositions that feel physically and emotionally charged.
Built through dense, gestural mark-making, their paintings carry a volatile energy. Fragments of text surface and recede, sometimes declarative, sometimes undermined by their context. Affirmation and self-doubt sit side by side. The work resists resolution, allowing vulnerability, humour and confrontation to coexist within the same visual field.
Parris completed a Foundation Diploma at UCA Rochester before graduating in Fine Art from Goldsmiths University in 2014. Since then, Daisy Parris has developed a practice that has gained increasing visibility across both commercial and institutional contexts. Recent exhibitions include presentations at Hauser & Wirth, Somerset; Sim Smith, London; and James Fuentes, Los Angeles—platforms recognised for shaping discourse around contemporary painting.
Their work has been included in curated projects foregrounding artists engaging with figuration, language and embodiment, positioning Daisy Parris within a broader generation rethinking how text operates within painting. As their exhibition profile continues to expand, Parris remains committed to work that feels immediate, unfiltered and psychologically exacting.
